Beautiful hand lettering and journaling has become a popular hobby and a way for people to engage their creative style. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to review three journals by Ellie Claire and to give them away to three of my readers!
Even if you are not naturally gifted in this creative outlet, these journals have easy to use instructions to help you find your groove in lettering.

Illuminate Your Story

The Illuminate Your Story Journal begins with a brief history on illuminated letters and the different periods they can be found in. It also includes a suggested supply list with steps in how to use the journal.
These types of letters would be found in books published in the Middle Ages through the Renaissance era and she gives a step by step guide on forming the letters and adding beautiful designs around it.
The lettering and design pages are dotted to give you a scope and measurement for drawing. Aside from lettering, the designs contain floral images, banners, gothic figures, and more. There are a few journaling pages adorned with great quotes within the instruction pages. The book and pages are sturdy and well made for artistic impression. With the easy-to-follow instructions and plenty of space to practice your new skills, this journal will help you develop your artistic hand.

Faith & Lettering Journal

The Faith and Lettering Journal is jammed packed with pages full of artistic content to help you practice your creativity!
It allows you to practice various lettering styles, banners and other doodles, as well as mapping out verses into art. The pages are good quality varying with dots, lines, blocks, and columns to give you plenty of variety for your creative juices to pour out on. Throughout the book you find beautiful fully-colored art pages with Scripture to encourage you. Krystal Whitten did an excellent job putting this book together! It is the perfect gift for anyone who already practices hand lettering or for beginners just venturing out into this practice.

The Illustrated Word

If you’re not quite wanting to try your hand at lettering and design, but you want a beautiful journal for your quiet time, The Illustrated Word is a superb choice! Like the other two books, it’s sturdy and the pages are high quality. The journaling pages are lined and many contain illustrations from ancient manuscripts that can be found in the archives of the Museum of the Bible. This journal also includes some of those illustrations on full pages in black and white for you to color. These pages also tell you about the illustration including the artist, title, and the year it was created. This journal makes a beautiful keepsake!

All three journals would make excellent choices for those interested in further expressing their artistic side with their study of God’s Word! Each of them are well made with beautiful colors and golden embellishments on the covers. If you don’t win one these, you’ll definitely want to purchase your own.

All look awesome!!
The Illustrated Word journal would be so much FUN and a great way to exercise my creativity. In the 7th grade I had to do a nine-week rotation through all four electives offered at our school. I’ll never forget the fear when the art teacher told our class we would be creating our own lettering. But when the project was completed and I had designed my very own lettering (designed with roses and leaves on each letter of the alphabet) I felt so accomplished!
